Te Pūtahi - To Have a Place
Location: 110 Cashel Street, Central City
Date: May 13 - 20
Our Role: Site Brokers
To Have a Place explored what Ōtautahi could be like if everyone felt welcome and able to fully participate in public life. Led by Te Pūtahi with researchers from Toi Āria: Design for Public Good, the project gathered insights from those often left out of city design conversations, asking how the city makes them feel and which public spaces matter most to them.
Through workshops, prompts and a three-day exhibition, participants shared experiences of belonging, safety and participation. The findings will inform future discussions, conferences and publications on inclusive public spaces.
Inspired by the award-winning Urban Belonging project from Denmark and the Netherlands, To Have a Place was supported by Toi Āria, Christchurch City Council Place Partnerships Fund and ChristchurchNZ.
