Our Spaces
Brighton Rd & Brooker Ave, Christchurch 8083
East x East
East x East is a major piece of Red Zone land that LiVS has on a licence from Land Information New Zealand. After a year-long pilot project in the same area, LiVS and Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) signed a new contract to continue their partnership to create a space that provides some amenity and acts as a gathering space for the community. The aim is to fill the area with temporary art projects, local clubs and other events and activities. It’s meant as a temporary space to utilise the land and encourage community involvement whilst plans and preparation for future development are completed. The exciting community space has been named East x East, to reflect its location in the eastern suburb of Burwood at the eastern end of New Brighton Road. There are some small pots of seed-funding available to support project ideas and enable various types of activity. Those interested in developing a project for the space should get in contact with LiVS via the link below.
145 Hereford Street
Westpac Lane
Westpac Lane forms part of the laneways network threading across the city and connecting pedestrians to attractions such as the Central Bus Exchange, Cathedral Square, New Regent St and Tūranga (central library). Christchurch City Council are the main 'participant' having made the laneway accessible and commissioned several pieces to brighten it up; the neighbouring hoarding currently hosts a Grove of Intentions mural also supported by LiVS.
361 Tuam Street
Salt Lane Studio
LiVS has a partnership with Salt Lane Studio which is a co-working space designed for artists and makers. It is located close to the CBD and is a awesome option if you are getting started. Costs to access this space are negotiated on a case by case basis. Further details can be found at https://tcschch.com/about

Common Ground
Once a line of local shops, this space has stood vacant for a number of years. Managed by Sustain South Brighton, The Common Ground is now a thriving community space. Check out Common Ground on facebook for event details and contact them for use of the space.
35 Hassals Lane, Waltham, Christchurch
Hassals Lane
Formerly the site of Seven Oaks School and Ara's horticulture and vintners course, our Hassals Lane site is beautifully set amongst trees, orchards and birdsong. It hosts a number of prefabs buildings, a large workshop and stunning outdoor spaces. The local community is active in keeping the site tidy and a small artist community is slowly establishing. Studio spaces are currently full on site but we do have a bookable space available for one-off or semi-regular activities.
101 Brighton M
Art-OMat
A small-scale exhibition space in New Brighton. The Art-OMat was part of the CCC's tiny hut project back in 2018. We now have custodianship and active it on behalf of the local community. The space is approx. 2mx2m and is suitable for art displays, fun installations and anything else your imagination can come up with!
