Fab Lab ChCh is a community digital fabrication workshop that supports grass-roots innovation. They are a social enterprise that focuses on creating open source fabrication technology. Their goal is to empower people to become the makers and creators of their own world.
Recently they have created open-sourced 3D printed panels for an outdoor Urban Living Wall . This project is on the corner of Cashel and High Street, and was created in collaboration with the Department of Conservation, Christchurch City Council, and several local schools.
The urban living wall is designed and manufactured locally using old and new technology such wood carving, ceramics, and 3D printers. The idea of open-sourcing the files used to produce these walls is that any school, neighborhood, or city can replicate this project and set up an Urban Living Wall using the FabLab ChCh digital booklet and educational content.
