Art-O-Mat

Location: New Brighton

Date: 2020

Our Role: LiVS is custodian of the space and licensor of the land
One of the original tiny huts, repurposed as a gallery space for locals to enjoy in New Brighton.

Art-O-mat was one of the original five Tiny Huts created as part of a Christchurch City Council- run competition in 2016. The ‘Tiny Huts’ were a play on English seaside beach huts. Each measured 2m by 2m and they were placed in New Brighton's town centre to liven up the seaside suburb.

Most found new homes however the Art-O-Mat remained in New Brighton Mall for some time and was used as a mini gallery or exhibition space for local artists and businesses.
